01Starting point

How did the client work before?

The existing Oralia web application supported pharmacies in counselling patients on oral cancer therapy. It provided drug information and made it possible to create individual intake plans and patient information sheets for printing.

For use in several countries, there were separate systems and databases. Different languages and national drug information had to be taken into account. A shared technical foundation for use across Europe was missing.

02Challenge and goal

What needed to be improved or achieved?

The goal was to bring the existing applications together in one central platform and to develop the proven functions further.

Pharmacies were to use the system in their own language and be able to create patient documents in different languages. At the same time, country-specific content, personal staff accounts and structured maintenance of the specialist information had to be made possible.

Our solution

Oralia

pirAMide developed a new web-based Oralia platform. The requirements were agreed together with the DGOP and with the involvement of European contacts.

  • 01

    Shared platform

Merging of the previous national systems and migration of existing data.

  • 02

    Multilingual

User interface and patient documents in different languages.

  • 03

    Country-specific drug information

Management of medicines and additional information for each country.

  • 04

    Individual intake plans

Dosages, intake times, therapy breaks and additional preparations.

  • 05

    Patient documents as PDF

Clear intake plans and information sheets for counselling and to take home.

  • 06

    Personal accounts and roles

Individual staff accounts for pharmacies and defined rights for administration and editing.

04Result and benefit

The new Oralia platform is used in pharmacies across Europe. It supports the creation of individual intake plans and provides additional information for patient counselling. Multilingual documents and country-specific content enable use across national borders.

Since its launch, the system has been continuously extended with further functions. As the next development step, a patient app is planned that will complement the web application and make intake plans as well as the documentation of intake and well-being accessible on the smartphone.
